I grew up in Winter Park Florida, and moved to Tampa for college. After graduating from USF, I moved to Boston where I met my husband. After 10 years up North, we relocated with our daughters to Tampa in 2021. Canarie was launched in 2022 as a result of being diagnosed with a synthetic preservative allergy.
what it's like living with a preservative allergy
Before I learned of my MI allergy diagnosis, I spent much of my time coughing, itching, and having a scaly-like contact dermatitis that would constantly flare within my fingers. Because I was washing my clothes and sheets in MI-filled liquid products, washing hands with synthetic preservative filled products, and filling my home with mass-commercially produced wall fragrance units, I didn't realize I was triggering and flaring my allergy from every angle. Since learning about my allergy, I have completely removed synthetic preservatives from my home, and it has been no easy feat. Our lack of preservative regulations in the U.S. leaves very little safe options for those living with MI to find products at easy access. Canarie will bring to market products that are safe for using when living with an MI or -one allergy.
